Mitsubishi is showing off a lot more than other automakers at the Tokyo International Auto Show. Not only are Mitsubishi's concepts good looking, but one day you will have the opportunity to get behind the wheel of either when they become available at dealers like Puente Hills Mitsubishi in City of Industry, California.
The Japanese automaker revives the Mirage name for its first concept, a revamped five-door hatchback. The front-wheel-drive Mirage is roughly the same size as the Mini Cooper Clubman. The concept is powered by a 1.0-liter inline three-cylinder engine. Official fuel economy numbers have yet to be released. But, make sure to keep your eyes peeled for the Mirage in late 2012.
The second concept is the PX-MiEV II, (a continuation of the Mitsubishi i EV) and has a top range of 496 miles, reaching an impressive 141 mpg!
The Japanese automaker claims this development of EV technology allows the vehicle to travel 31 miles on just battery power. The concept utilizes a 2.0-liter MIVEC four-cylinder engine, delivering 94 horsepower between its two 80-horsepower electric motors, which drives this Mitsubishi's four-wheel-drive system.
The Japanese automaker also states "instant torque produced by the electric motors accelerate the vehicle similarly to a 3.0-liter V6 engine." Sounds promising! Stay tuned for the latest in Mitsubishi concept news.1
