2018 Mitsubishi Outlander and Outlander Sport are competitively priced crossovers that are packed with technology

The Mitsubishi brand is known for its value and that carries over to the crossovers as well. At Puente Hills Mitsubishi, located in Industry, CA, you'll find a wide selection of the family-friendly 2018 Mitsubishi Outlander 3rd-row SUVs or the sportier 2018 Mitsubishi Outlander Sport crossovers. Compared to the competition, both models come in at attractive price points- serving a wider range of shoppers- while still maintaining appealing styling and technology!

Today we want to look at both models and we'll start with the Mitsubishi Outlander. It has 3rd-row seating and is a great option for large families or parents who're part of a carpool lineup and need the extra space for drop offs and pickups. Capacity wise it can seat up to seven and has 63.3 cubic feet of max cargo space, 34.2 cubic feet of cargo space behind the second row, and 10.3 cubic feet with all rows up.

The 2018 Mitsubishi Outlander comes in 4 trims: ES, SE, SEL, and GT.  The first three trims come with a standard 2.4L engine that has 166 horsepower, and they're available in FWD or All-Wheel Control. The top GT trim has 3.0L V6 engine. It produces 224 horsepower and is only available in All-Wheel Control.

The ES trim has flashy 18-inch two-tone alloy wheels, a 7-inch touchscreen with rearview camera, Bluetooth technology, and LED lights for brighter visibility. There's over 5 accessory packages you can add as well, like cargo mats, protection, and entertainment, and these only make the Outlander ES more enjoyable and increase its value.

The SE takes the standard features from the ES and adds a FAST-Key with push button start (no more frantic searching for your keys in a busy parking lot with children in tow!), and the Smartphone Link Display Audio System that allows you to use Android Auto™ or Apple CarPlay™. This is a great feature and many competitors still don't have it.

There's no substitute for safe, defensive driving, but if you want a little extra security on the road then you'll want to test drive the SEL trim. It comes standard with Blindspot Warning with Rear Cross Traffic Alert and Lane Change Assist. The SEL also has leather seats, a power remote liftgate, and a driver power seat that gives you 8 configurations for a comfortable drive.

The GT trim stands out and not just because of its V6 engine we mentioned earlier. It also has a moonroof, premium Fosgate audio system, and multi-view camera that gives you a birds eye view of your surroundings!

Other safety features you can get on select 2018 Mitsubishi Outlander trims through a package include the following: Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane Departure Warning, Auto High Beams, and Forward Collision Mitigation.

As you can see, the Outlander is a well-rounded SUV that is ready to take on the demands of family travel. If you don't need all the space, don't worry. You can always size down to the 2018 Mitsubishi Outlander Sport!

For a bit of perspective, the larger Outlander is 184.8 inches long, 67.3 inches high, and 71.3 inches wide. The Outlander Sport has the same width, but a notably shorter wheelbase that is 171.5 inches long and the height comes down to 64.8 inches. The length differences makes the Outlander Sport a nimble crossover and a breeze to parallel park, even if you don't use the standard backup camera!

This Outlander Sport is available in 3 trims: ES, SE, and SEL. The base engine is a 2.0L and it produces 148 horsepower. The base is a 5-speed manual, though there is an option for standard. The SE & SEL trims have the same engine, but horsepower is more robust at 168. If you want All-Wheel Control the option is available on all three trims. Cargo space isn't bad with all the seats up at 21.7 cubic feet!

Just like on the Outlander, the base trim on the Outlander Sport is far from bare bones. You'll still get a 7-inch touch screen, the backup camera, and Bluetooth technology for handsfree calling and music streaming.

The SE gets the Apple and Android smartphone integration, FAST-key, and the soft-touch surfaces are, well, a nice touch!

The top-rated SEL trim has the leather seats, roof rails so you can bring more gear on adventures, and the 8-way power adjusting driver's seat. On the SEL there is also the option to upgrade with the Touring Package and that's where you'll find advanced safety technology (Forward Collision Mitigation, Lane Departure Warning, Automatic High Beams), the Fosgate system, and panoramic moonroof.
